zithromax

Zithromax is a drug commonly used to treat certain skin infections. Conditions Zithromax can be prescribed for include: upper and lower respiratory tract infections; pharyngitis (strep throat); tonsillitis, infections of the sinus; extreme cases of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease; pneumonia; certain infections of the cervix or urinary tract that are sexually transmitted; and genital ulcer disease in men. Zithromax is also prescribed to children for the treatment of certain ear infections, pneumonia, tonsillitis, and strep throat.

Zithromax capsules are best taken at least 1 hour before a meal or 2 hours afterwards for maximum effectiveness. The medication can be administered with or without food but antacid substances that contains aluminum or magnesium are to be avoided.

For patients that are using the single-dose packets of Zithromax powder for oral suspension, the whole packet’s content should be mixed with 2 ounces of water. Drink immediately and add 2 additional ounces of water to make sure you take the entire dose.

The use of Zithromax may rarely but possibly trigger very serious allergic reactions including; swelling of the face, lips, and neck that makes it difficult to talk, breath and eat (this is a condition known as angioedema); anaphylaxis, a violent and possibly fatal allergic reaction; serious skin diseases. Stop the treatment at once if you suffer from any of these allergic reactions and contact your doctor immediately for medical assistance.

It is very important to take the exact prescribed dosage at the recommended schedule as the medication may lose its effectiveness or the bacteria may grow resistant to it if directions are not followed. If you missed a dose take it as soon as you remember, except if it is almost time for your next dose. In such cases skip the missed dose and return to your regular schedule.
